The Sawa Sawa dhow is a beautiful, spacious wooden sailing boat built in the East African traditional style. It was hand built in Mozambique with teak and other hard wood and was sailed all the way to Che Shale by Justin and his crew. Guests will delight in a relaxing sail along the coastline and pick from either a full day or half day excursion to swim, snorkel, and feast on a grilled seafood lunch onboard.

The Malindi coast is renowned for being one of the top sailfish destinations in the world. It is one of the few places on the globe where one can try for a 'Fantasy Slam' (5 different billfish species in one trip) making it a great destination for fishermen. Tsavo East National Park is one of the world's largest game reserves and is located 3 hours away from Malindi by road. Named after the Tsavo River which flows west to east through it, the park is home to most of the larger mammals, including vast herds of elephants, rhinos, buffalos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, zebra, and over 500 species of birds.

Arabuko-Sokoke Forest Reserve is the largest and most intact coastal forest in East Africa. 20% of Kenya's bird species, 30% butterfly species and at least 24 rare and endemic bird, mammal and butterfly species inhabit the 420 square kilometers of coastal forest. The reserve is managed by the Kenya Forest Service and is located 20 km from Malindi. Besides wildlife viewing, guests are invited to camp, picnic, cycle, and enjoy guided walks along the nature trails.

Marafa Hell’s Kitchen

The Marafa Depression, also known as Hell’s Kitchen, is a sandstone canyon
in Malindi, Kenya. Once a great sandstone ridge, it was worn over the years by wind, rain, and floods into a series of jagged gorges. The layered colors of the sandstone reveal whites, pinks, oranges, and reds, making the canyon particularly striking at sundown, when the different tones are highlighted
and mirrored by those of the setting sun.

Falconry of Kenya is a magnificent private zoo featuring a large collection of birds of prey including eagles, falcons, goshawks, owls, and peckers.
Visitors will get to see the beautiful creatures perform thrilling flight shows and have the chance to carry some of them on gloved hands. In addition to the collection of birds, the Falconry also has crocodiles, tortoises, monkeys, monitor lizards, and snakes such as green mambas, pythons, and cobras.

displayed permanently within a lush tropical garden. Owner, Carol Rasmussen, personally walks guests through her vast and stunning sculpture collection, offering insight into the beautiful pieces and their creators along the way.

Vasco da Gama Pillar

The Vasco da Gama Pillar was built by famous Portugeuse explorer, Vasco da Gama, in 1498. The monument bears a cross at its top and is made of limestone native to the explorer’s native Portugal. The site is maintained by the Malindi Museum. A ticket of entry to the site allows visitors to access the Portuguese Chapel and Malindi Museum free of charge.

The Malindi Museum is located in a charming two story building that dates back to the late 19th century. With a terraced roof, veranda, and thick columns supporting the first floor, the building was originally known as the House of Commons and for many years served as the first hospital of Malindi. The museum currently houses temporary exhibitions and doubles as an information centre where visitors are able to find more information on attractions and happenings in Malindi.
A ticket of entry to the site allows
visitors to access the Portuguese Chapel and Vasco da Gama pillar free of charge.

This thatched-roof church was built by Portuguese catholics in the 15th century. St. Francis Xavier visited the church on his way to India in 1542 and buried two of his sailors in the chapel’s adjoining graveyard. The quaint little chapel and its well preserved graveyard are maintained by the Malindi Museum. A ticket of entry to the site allows visitors to access the Malindi Museum and Vasco da Gama pillar free of charge.
